Looking forward to my 1st build

Post by Flying Geezer on Wed Feb 25 2015, 14:09

Hi,
I'm a 66 year old "teenager" just starting my first motorized bike project.
About 10 years ago, I saw a guy running up and down the isles, on one, at an
antique motorcycle swap meet, and have wanted to build one since then.
I just bought the Huffy Cranbrook as a starting point, and now I'm looking
around to see which motor kits you all have had good luck with.

I love everything two wheeled and am looking forward to adding a motorbike
to my stable ('65 Yamaha 60cc, '80 Honda CM 200, '84 Honda XL 350, '66 Triumph T-Bird,
and my '05 Yamaha FZ-1 road burner).

My wife is showing interest too, so I might be "forced" into building one for her too.
Thank you all for all the good info that I'm about to find here and I hope to be able to
add to the info pool myself.

Thanks,
Flying Geezer

hello FG,

welcome to the forum.
there are many different ways to go about motorizing your bicycle. the choice is yours. in my opinion the best way to get your toes wet is by getting a "china girl/happy time" motor kit. with those kits its a gamble for what you get but for the price its a good starting point. they are easy to install and maintain. and in many cities the local police do not hassle you for having it.

if you need anymore information about anything let me know i would be glad to help.

Hey thanks.
I ordered the 66cc "Jet" kit from GasBike.com and
it will be delivered to me on Wed. 3/4/15.
I hope this was a good choice. Tomorrow I'm building
a work stand and doing a little workspace clean up.
